Candy Sale
We will be having a candy sale again this year. Candy will be distributed Friday, May 1. Each case of candy has 52 candy bars. Two of the candy bars are free. Players may sell them and keep the money, eat the candy bars, or donate the two dollar to FBC Youth Baseball League. Prizes are as follows:
1 case – Coupon book for free soda, cotton candy, popcorn, & sno-cone. One coupon for each week of the baseball season.
2 cases – A baseball autographed by Brother Schaap. Each baseball will be encased in an acrylic display case for a lifetime of safekeeping.
3 cases – A 330 page hardcover book titled “Hall of Fame Players: Cooperstown”
15 cases – 26″ Men’s Nitro Mountain Bike – Aluminum Dual suspension, 21 speed Grip Shifter. Or a boys 24″ Power Climber Bike.
Each prize is accumulative and includes all the prizes above it. If you sell two cases and would rather have two coupon books, you may do this, also.
I am asking each player to sell some candy. I realize that selling candy is a lot of work on your part and a sacrifice of time, but in a tight economy and rising expenses, the fund-raising becomes all the more important to our league. I appreciate your efforts very much. Our baseball program is successful because a lot of people have chosen to work together to make it happen. All candy money and league fees must be turned in before picking up a uniform.
Little League Work Day
The Little League “work day” is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2009. The time is 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Everyone is invited and needed. We will be working on the fields, baselines, back stops, and the snack shop. Please bring rakes, hoes, wheel barrels, paint brushes, and paint rollers. We need every man and ballplayer who can come to help get the fields ready.
Each team has been assigned a job to do. In order to have nice fields, we will need everyone to do his job. I hope you will cooperate.
There is no “they” in our Little League. There is only a “we.” If we don’t do the necessary work, it will not get done. Please don’t think that someone else will do the work if you don’t. This is your baseball league, your boys, and your work.
There is a lot of work to do this year to get the fields looking nice. Wives and daughters are encouraged to come and help clean the snack shop, also. If you can only come for a couple of hours, please still come. Dinner will be served at the snack shop at 5:00 p.m.
Railcats Game
Gary Railcat tickets may be purchased when you pick up your uniform(s) or any time at the snack shop. The Railcats game outing will be Saturday, June 13. The first 1500 fans will receive a free Railcat’s fleece blanket. Our own John Mathewson will be singing the National Anthem before the ball game. Tickets are $7.00 each. This is a father / son event, but any boy who does not have a father at home is more than welcome. Please call me if this is the situation in your family.
